C.S. Lewis
C.S. Lewis was one of the greatest writers of all time. When he was alive, his books were very popular. His books have been translated into over 30 languages and still remain on the bestseller list today.
C.S. Lewis was born in Belfast, Ireland on November 29, 1898. His father, a lawyer, was Albert Lewis and his mother was Flora Hamilton Lewis. He had a brother, who was three years older than he was, was Warren Hamilton Lewis. Jack loved to read Treasure Island and The Secret Garden. In 1908, his mother became ill and died of cancer. A little less than a month after her death, Lewis and his brother were sent to boarding school in England. Lewis hated going to this school, but fortunately, the school closed down in 1910.He was able to go back to Ireland.
C.S. Lewis went to Oxford University and then went into the British army in WWI. He was wounded in 1917 and went into the hospital to heal. He suffered from depression but was released from the army in 1918. He studied Greek and Latin.
Lewis loved Irish story telling. He converted to Christiananity in 1931. He wrote a series of books called The Chronicles of Narnia. He died in 1963 from a heart attack.
His books were so popular that they turned “The Chronicles of Narnia-The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe” into a movie.
