Letter To The Principal

Dear Mr. Principal,         Having an after school program would not be a good idea for many reasons. Some students wouldn`t be interested, others have activities out of school plus students need freedom and family time.

Some students wouldn`t be interested because they just want to get out of the building when the bell rings at the end of the day. They want to get home and do something besides work.

After school, programs would interfere with a students` social life. You wouldn`t have much time to play with friends, relax, and watch some TV. I think that my life would be boring if I didn`t have time to do what I want to do.

Everyone should have a chance to do what he or she wants after school. I like to go home and take a nap or watch TV. I also like to play games on the computer and I`m sure many other kids do too.

My family is an important part of my life. After school, I work on my homework with my parents and I play with my brother. We have dinner together; sometimes I have to baby-sit my younger brother.

I believe that there shouldn`t be any after school because mainly it interferes with our life outside of school. Please reconsider this movement.

                                                                   Sincerely,

                                                                   Casey

C.S. Lewis

C.S. Lewis was one of the greatest writers of all time.  When he was alive, his books were very popular. His books have been translated into over 30 languages and still remain on the bestseller list today.

C.S. Lewis was born in Belfast, Ireland on November 29, 1898. His father, a lawyer, was Albert Lewis and his mother was Flora Hamilton Lewis. He had a brother, who was three years older than he was, was Warren Hamilton Lewis. Jack loved to read Treasure Island and The Secret Garden. In 1908, his mother became ill and died of cancer. A little less than a month after her death, Lewis and his brother were sent to boarding school in England. Lewis hated going to this school, but fortunately, the school closed down in 1910.He was able to go back to Ireland.

C.S. Lewis went to Oxford University and then went into the British army in WWI. He was wounded in 1917 and went into the hospital to heal. He suffered from depression but was released from the army in 1918. He studied Greek and Latin.

Lewis loved Irish story telling. He converted to Christiananity in 1931. He wrote a series of books called The Chronicles of Narnia. He died in 1963 from a heart attack.

His books were so popular that they turned “The Chronicles of Narnia-The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe” into a movie.

Personal Accomplishment

For years, I have been trying to teach my little brother Colby how to swim. Last summer I finally got him to go under water and he swam! I have always been encouraging him to just try it at least once, so it made me feel good that he actually did. It was at Jungle Jims, in the kiddie pool. He used to be afraid to go into the water because he thought that he was too little and that he would drown. However, I guess that since the water there was not very deep he decided to go in and try it. Myself, I am a great swimmer, I have been swimming my entire life and I was never once afraid. Therefore, I did not quite understand why my little brother had this problem, I mean at his age I was swimming in at least five feet deep water.
